Choose the mood. We'll choose the book.
Each month we set three reading moods. Choose one and we post you a paperback to match, title sealed. You find out what it is on reveal day, along with everyone else.
We're not open yet. For now, help us choose the first three books.
Free, with nothing to sign up to. We ask for your email when you send it, so we can tell you what happens to your book.

How a month works
You choose once a month. Then you wait for the post.
-
Start of the month
Three moods land
Everyone sees them at the same time, with clues and content notes. Seal one, or pause the month.
-
Choosing closes
Didn't choose? We will
We pick a mood for you that avoids anything you've switched off in your content preferences.
-
A few days later
A tied parcel
A paperback to keep, tied with string. If you've already read it, we'll swap it for another from the same mood, still sealed.
-
Reveal day
Everyone finds out
Everyone opens theirs on the same day and finds out the title, who suggested it and why we chose it. Try it below.

"It made a stranger feel like family by page forty."
Why we chose it: Eleven of you suggested it. We kept returning to the last chapter, which manages to be both an ending and a beginning.
A demo with a real book. The member credit and our note are examples.
Who chooses
People choose every book. Here's how.
- 01Chosen for the mood. We skip the books everyone's talking about, because you've probably read them. So have we.
- 02Read before it's announced. We write the content notes ourselves.
- 03A paperback that's in print in the UK. It's yours to keep.
- 04We always say why. On reveal day you'll see who suggested it and why we picked it.
Members suggest one book per mood and we choose from those. The first three books will come from suggestions sent from this page.
Suggest a book
Which book would you put in everyone's hands?
Three moods, one at a time. Suggest a book for any you know and skip the rest. We read every suggestion, group the duplicates and choose one book per mood. If we choose yours, we'll credit you by name on reveal day.
What is Dogear?
A monthly book subscription in the UK. Each month we set three reading moods. You choose one and we post you a paperback for it. The title stays sealed until reveal day.
Do I have to pay anything to suggest a book?
No. Suggesting is free and doesn't sign you up to anything. We'll tell you about membership when we open, and you can decide then.
Why do you need my email?
So we can tell you what happens to your suggestion: when we've read it, if it makes the longlist and if we choose it. We'll also let you know when Dogear opens. Unsubscribe whenever you like.
What happens to my suggestion?
We read every one and group the duplicates. Then we check the book is in print in the UK and choose one per mood. If we choose yours, we credit you by name on reveal day and quote your reason.
Can I suggest a book for just one mood?
Yes. One is plenty. Leave the others blank.
What kind of book should I suggest?
One that fits the mood and that you'd happily hand to a friend. We tend to skip the books everyone's talking about, because most members will have read them already.
What if I've already read the book?
Add what you've read to your reading history in the app. If you've read a mood's book, we'll send you a different one from the same mood, still sealed.
Can I avoid certain themes?
Yes. Every mood lists its content notes, and you can switch themes off in Profile, under Content preferences. If you don't choose a mood, we'll pick one that avoids them.
When is reveal day?
The same day for everyone, once all the parcels have arrived. You cut the string in the app and see the title, who suggested it and why we chose it.
Where do you deliver?
UK addresses only, for now.
When does Dogear open?
We haven't set a date yet. If you've sent a suggestion, you'll hear from us first.
